Strengthening Healthcare Education: Governor Natembeya Meets Moi University Leadership

Governor George Natembeya meets Moi University’s College of Health Sciences leadership to explore a partnership that strengthens training and specialised care at Wamalwa Kijana Teaching & Referral Hospital.

Today, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya welcomed the leadership of Moi University’s College of Health Sciences, led by Prof. Robert K. Tenge, for high-level discussions at his office. The meeting centred on the establishment of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will pave the way for specialised medical services and advanced healthcare training at the Wamalwa Kijana Teaching and Referral Hospital (WKTRH).

Governor Natembeya noted that the collaboration marks a strategic milestone in strengthening the county’s healthcare system, while also providing hands-on training opportunities for medical students. The initiative is expected to enhance service delivery, reduce reliance on external referrals, and promote knowledge transfer between professionals and students.

“This partnership is not just about healthcare today, but about building capacity for tomorrow. By integrating education and service delivery, we are creating a stronger, healthier future for our people,” Governor Natembeya affirmed.

The discussions highlight the county’s ongoing commitment to invest in healthcare infrastructure and partnerships that bridge the gap between academia and practice. Once formalised, the MoU is expected to position WKTRH as a hub of specialised medical care and learning for the entire region.

🌍✨ With such collaborations, Trans Nzoia County continues to place itself at the centre of healthcare excellence, blending education, service, and innovation to transform lives.
