A champion of conservation since his days guarding the Mau Water Towers, Governor Natembeya continues to advocate for sustainable environmental management, clean water access, and renewable energy initiatives to protect future generations.
Governor Natembeya began his civil service career by serving as a Personal Assistant to the late Minister of Security, John Michuki. In this role, he was exposed to high-level security policymaking and developed administrative skills under a prominent national figure.
After his stint in the Ministry, Natembeya rose to become District Officer, and later District Commissioner in Murang’a County. There, he took on significant security challenges, including efforts to contain the notorious Mungiki gang, showcasing his capacity to manage volatile situations with firmness.
In 2016, he was appointed County Commissioner of Isiolo, where he engaged in security and community management in a sensitive region. Soon after, he was transferred to Narok, and tasked with protecting the Mau water towers—leading the eviction of over 10,000 settlers in defense of critical environmental resources.
In June 2019, Natembeya was elevated to Rift Valley Regional Commissioner, overseeing security and governance across one of Kenya’s largest and most politically complex regions. His tenure was marked by a proactive approach to security challenges.
In January 2022, Natembeya resigned from his position in compliance with the Elections Act to pursue elective office. This pivotal transition marked the start of his movement from administrative roles into active politics.
Following his resignation, he successfully ran for and was elected as Governor of Trans Nzoia County in the 2022 General Election, assuming office in October. As governor, he has prioritized health infrastructure, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and regional empowerment initiatives—launching reforms, addressing long-standing challenges, and building his reputation as a transformative leader.
Governor Natembeya believes democracy is not a spectator sport — it is lived every day. His administration emphasizes transparency, citizen engagement, and accountability. Every decision is guided by the principle that the people’s voice must be heard and respected.
Significant strides have already been made across key sectors such as agriculture, health, infrastructure, and education. From improving farm productivity to expanding access to healthcare, his policies are anchored in delivering practical solutions that directly uplift the lives of citizens.
